The Democratic Republic of Neualtenburg was a self-governed community founded by Ulrika Zugzwang and Kendra Bancroft in the Anzere sim, that later moved to an island sim named Neualtenburg.
Having started in 2004, it lasted until June 2006 when a dispute arose between the founders and the rest of the group.
The group was then divided into two new communities, one remaining at the private island which now carries the name Neufreistadt, and a splitter 2-person-group that moved into Port Neualtenburg, a new community of artists that started over with a 20,000 square meter parcel on a mainland simulator.
Although the elected government retained control over the old Neualtenburg private island simulator, alleged copyright problems forced a great deal of reconstruction upon them, and work on a second simulator under the same government has begun.
