BVH stands for Biovision hierarchical data and was created by a motion capture services company called Biovision which has since gone under. The file contains information about skeleton hierarchy information which is used to animate a 3D model. Second Life uses BVH file types to animate avatars. Residents can upload their own BVH created animations to use in gestures or in general.
